In May 2008 the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) hosted a regional workshop with the United Nations Statistics Division and ESCWA on Census Data Processing.
All of the GCC was represented as well as several other countries in the ESCWA area. Presentations were made on technologies being used by various countries to collect and capture census data. Several vendors demonstrated their products and the newest technologies being used in census operations.
This workshop was conducted in direct support of the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics in Qatar. The use of technology will assist QSA in its goal to collect, process, and disseminate data as quickly as possible so that data users gain the maximum benefit from the data. The more timely the data the more valuable it is.
