Training Course on Buildings Counting Phase Concluded

A training course on the Buildings Listing Phase of Census 2010 was concluded at Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) on 19 January 2010.  
 

This is the first phase of field work for the upcoming Population, Housing and Establishment Census that will begin on 20 April 2010.

The objectives of the course inaugurated by H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Jabor bin Jassim Al Thani, Acting President of Qatar Statistics Authority on Sunday 17 January 2010 was to train surveyors on field work for the 2010 Population, Housing and Establishment Census.

During the programme, the participants were briefed on a number of issues pertaining to the importance of census and its results in formulating development policies. They were introduced to the organizational structure of the census staff and their duties. They were given full explanation on Buildings Enumeration Questionnaire to be used in the first phase of the Census. The course also trained the participants on how to use personal digital computers (PDAs) in the building enumeration and numbering stage, besides other issues.

The participants of the course have embarked on 20th January 2010 on the stage of identifying the Enumeration areas’ boundaries and building enumeration to collect information about building administrative record (e.g., name, census building number), building type and status (incomplete - under construction - under maintenance - under demolition), electricity number, number of housing units and establishments.

Once this work is competed, QSA will be able to build a database on the buildings, their geographical distribution, and workloads for the following census phases.
