Statistics Authority Has Completed "Qatar New Administrative Directory"

11 January 2010

The Administrative Directory of the State of Qatar, which makes a major contribution to the identification of the enumeration regions as a basic requirement for conducting the census at the national level, contains maps and information

Those maps and information clarifying the borders of blocks, regions, municipalities and geographical designations of various locations in Qatar.

The preparation of this comprehensive directory of administrative divisions is a major preliminary step to conduct the census and provide its data for the following reasons:

•To ensure involving all households and individuals in a specific time through providing a list of the names and numbers of all blocks and regions, because if any of them is missing this could lead to the omission of part of or all the components including buildings, houses, households and individuals from the counting process.

•To divide work among all those involved in all stages of the field work not only on a survey basis but also on the basis of supplying the enumerator with an accurate list of the names of blocks and regions located within the scope of his work and an estimation of the population size in them.

•The enumerator cannot collect the geographical data on the counting location without knowing the name and location of the block to which he is assigned.

Data classification and obtaining the geographical distribution of houses, establishments, households and individuals requires encoding the data according to a specific administrative and geographical directory.

•To be guided by detailed maps of the regions and blocks. Satellite photos and the main landmarks have been added for the purpose of identifying the borders of blocs and regions as well as the landmarks and streets for guidance during the field work.
