The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 122th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis. In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during February 2024 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2020 Census.
One of the prominent changes in this issue is the increase in cash issued at a monthly rate of 1.3%, against an increase in total deposits by 1.4% (compared to January 2024), while this month witnessed a decrease in total traffic accidents at a monthly rate of 10.6% (compared to January 2024). In addition, the traffic accident deaths decreased by 29.4% (compared to January 2024).
The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has increase from 2.983 million at February 2023 to 3.129 million at February 2024 at an annual increase rate of change of 4.9%, and increased monthly by 0.3% (compared to January 2024).
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 2469 live births have been registered during February 2024. Also, an increase in the total Qatari live births by 1.7% comparing to last month. On the other hand, 206 deaths were recorded during the same period, a decrease of 14.2% compared to January 2024.
Moreover, February 2024 witnessed a monthly increase of 11.7%, 11.3% of total marriage contracts and total divorce certificates respectively. The total number of marriage contracts reached 439 marriage contracts, while the total number of divorce certificates reached 157 cases.
As for the Social Security statements, reached 78 Million Qatari Riyals in February 2024, for 14385 beneficiaries, Recording a monthly decrease of 2.9% for the value of social security and a monthly increase of 0.2% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.
As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 747 Billion Qatari Riyals during February 2024, an annual increase of 6.5% compared with February 2023. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 1029 Billion Qatari Riyals during February 2024. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 8.3% compared to February 2023, when deposits recorded approximately 950 Billion Qatari Riyals.
Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 689 permits during February 2024, recording a monthly decrease of 10.6% and an annual increase of 7.0%.
The total number of registered new vehicles during February 2024 has reached 7231 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly decrease of 15.0% and it showed an annual increase of 23.4%.
Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 754 traffic cases were recorded during February 2024, showing a monthly decrease of 10.6% and an annual increase by 12.9%. Light injuries are accounted for most traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 95%, followed by severe injuries by 4%. However, 12 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 1% of total traffic accidents cases.
As for tourism, the total number of inbound visitors reached about 596 thousand, recording a monthly decrease of 15.2% (compared to January 2024) but recorded an annual increase of 53.1% (compared to February 2023). The highest number of visitors was from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) at 42%. As for visitors by type of port, the visitors via Air make up the highest percentage with 48% of the total number of visitors.
