The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 92th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis. In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during August 2021 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2015 Census.
One of the most notable changes in this issue is the increase in total online transactions via the e-government portal "Hukoomi" at a monthly rate of 11.8% (compared to July 2021), and an annual rate of 57.5% (compared to August 2020).
Another notable change is the increase in total number of new registered vehicles at a monthly rate of 28.4% (compared to July 2021), and an annual rate of 53.0% (compared to August 2020). In addition, the total traffic violations and traffic accidents increased at a monthly rate of 7.1% and 10.9%, respectively (compared to July 2021).
The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has decreased from 2.74 million during August 2020 to 2.57 million at end of August 2021.
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 2125 live births have been registered during August 2021. Also, an increase in the total Qatari live births by 18.5% compared to last month. On the other hand, 221 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 5.7% compared to July 2021.
Moreover, August 2021 has experienced a monthly decrease by 2.0% in marriage contracts while the total number of divorce certificates increased monthly by 72.3%. The total number of marriage contracts was 339 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 243 divorce cases.
As for the Social Security statements, reached 80 Million Qatari Riyals in August 2021, for 14619 beneficiaries, Recording a monthly decrease of 17.9% for the value of social security and a monthly increase of 0.03% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.
Total electricity consumption during August 2021 was 5644.3 GWh attaining a monthly increase of 2.4% and an annual increase of 4.6%. While the total water consumption has reached 59246.1 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly increase of 2.7% and an annual decrease of 5.3%.
As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 603.4 Billion Qatari Riyals during August 2021, an annual increase of 4.1% compared with August 2020. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 955.7 Billion Qatari Riyals during August 2021. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 9.7% compared to August 2020, when deposits recorded approximately 871.3 Billion Qatari Riyals.
Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 626 permits during August 2021, recording a monthly increase of 17.7% and an annual increase of 8.5%.
The total number of registered new vehicles during August 2021 has reached 6984 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 28.4% and an annual increase of 53.0%.
Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 561 traffic cases were recorded during August 2021, showing a monthly increase of 10.9% and an annual increase by 38.9%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 90%, followed by severe injuries by 8%. However, 13 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2% of total traffic accidents cases.
