Research And Development
Research and development (R&D) is an essential component of the First National Development Strategy 2011-2016, and the Second National Development Strategy 2017-2022, which seek to transform the economy of the State of Qatar into a knowledge-based economy being the most sustainable and least vulnerable to fluctuations in global markets. Qatar's commitment to developing this field is reflected in the allocation of 2.8% of its revenues to support R&D projects. A sectoral strategy has also been developed for this field aimed at (making the State of Qatar a major force in scientific and technological discoveries, and in translating knowledge into creative applications that have a major social and economic impact that contributes to transforming Qatar's economy into a knowledge-based economy in support of Qatar National Vision 2030). This major contribution to R&D reflects the vitality of the innovation system that adopts technology adaptation and assimilation.
