The General Census of Population, Housing and Establishments 2020 project is one of the most important statistical projects of the Planning and Statistics Authority. Law No. (2) of 2011 and its amendments on Official Statistics stipulate in Article (2) that “The General Population Census shall be conducted at least once every ten (10) years and whenever necessary according to a resolution by the Cabinet ". With reference to the Cabinet Decision No. (4) of 2018 regarding conducting the General Census of Population, Housing and Establishments 2020, it aims to collect, process, disseminate and analyze demographic, economic and social data related to the population, housing and establishments in the country and to distribute them to geographical and spatial areas. This is done by relying mainly on administrative records, especially those data related to individual data and linking them to employment data, so that we can use them to link data collected from the field electronically according to geographical locations.
Within the framework of implementing the aforementioned Cabinet decision and implementing the 2020 Census in accordance with the methodology and timetable set, the Planning and Statistics Authority will carry out the census field operations in two phases:
