In the New Edition of “Qatar; Monthly Statistics” Bulletin Total transactions via Hukoomi e-Government Portal increased at a monthly rate of 1.7% compared to July 2020, reaching 101,696, compared to 100,026 transactions

​​​The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 80th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis.  In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during August 2020 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2015 Census. 


One of the most prominent changes in this issue is the increase in the total credit at a monthly increase of 1.0% compared to July 2020 and an annual increase of 10.7% compared to August 2019. 

The highest rate in this increase during August 2020 is for the Public Sector, with a monthly increase rate of 1.6% and an annually rise by 14.6%  

Furthermore, among the most notable changes is the increase in the Consumer Price Index, where the index of overall household consumption increased by 0.48%.

The largest increasing was in entertainment and culture followed by Food and Beverage then education with 2.29%, 1.93 and 1.58% respectively comparing to previous month (July 2020).

 The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 2.67 million during August 2019 to 2.74 million at end of August 2020.

Regarding to Vital Statistics, 2258 live births have been registered during August 2020. Also, an increase in the total Qatari live births by 3.9% compared to last month. On the other hand, 209 deaths were recorded during the same period, a decrease of 22.3% compared to July 2020. 

Moreover, August 2020 has experienced a monthly increase by 5.1% in marriage contracts and a monthly decrease 18.7% in divorce certificates. The total number of marriage contracts was 477 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 178 divorce cases. 

As for the Social Security statements, reached 83 Million Qatari Riyals in August 2020, for 15262 beneficiaries, Recording a monthly increase of 0.2% for the value of social security and a monthly decrease 0.4% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.

Total electricity consumption during August 2020 was 5396.4 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 1.4% and an annual increase of 1.7%. While the total water consumption has reached 62581.6 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly increase of 1.0% and an annual rise of 6.2%. 

Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 577 permits during August 2020, recording a monthly decrease of 15.6% and an annual increase of 39.0%.

Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 404 traffic cases were recorded during August 2020, showing a monthly decrease of 26.3% and an  annual increase by 8.0%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 89%, followed by severe injuries by 8%. However, 12 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 3% of total traffic accidents cases.

The total number of registered new vehicles during August 2020 has reached 4565 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly decrease of 18.2% and an annual increase of 15.0%. 

As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 579.4 Billion Qatari Riyals during August 2020, an annual increase of 5.1% compared with August 2019. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 871.3 Billion Qatari Riyals during August 2020. 

The figure has recorded an annual increase of 7.4% compared to August 2019, when deposits recorded approximately 811.2 Billion Qatari Riyals.
