29/02/2016

The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) and Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), a national research institute of Hamad bin Khalifa University, launched the Baseline Survey of Environmental Attitude and Belief of Residents in Qatar. This survey will be online for a month and all Qatar residents are encouraged to complete it online at MDPS website: www.mdps.gov.qa .

The survey aims to gather all opinions on how to build a sustainable and thriving ecosystem. Local and global environment is a fundamental source of life. But in the last three decades, the global and local environment is experiencing major changes resulting in catastrophic human and economic impact. Hence, protecting and nurturing the natural resources are more important than ever. Every individual can do his/her share in protecting the environment by minimizing energy and water consumption and increasing resource efficiency.

The results of this survey will be invaluable for MDPS  and QEERI to support environmental education and awareness programs and provide informed recommendations to policy makers and government stakeholders.

This is the first of three surveys and is addressing one of Qatar’s two major grand challenges – Water and Energy. Second and third surveys address other major issues such as solid waste, food, urbanization, climate change, local environmental initiatives and role of government in environmental protection.
